Actually,
this Bubee!!! Track
( Music On/Off ) -- even works
with this video! What do you think? But, of course,
you can try it both ways,
and see which works best for you. Hey, it's a Free
Country, so let me know!
It was January 2008, and I had to drive through Brooklyn, to
pick up my sax stand that I left on a gig. The timing was perfect,
cause I already had a recording session at - here we go again... - Yochi
Briskman's Recording Studio... So, after I picked
up my stand, it finally happened....!!!
For years, Avremi G and
I were talkign about "doing a hang" at his studio, but
it's never easy to find time, add to it the quick paced life in
New York City... So, as I was driving that night, I called Avremi,
and we made it happen!
In case you didn't know
about Avremi, you probably have seen his work. He is "The
Man Behind" A
Notable Idea, a "powerhouse" that supplies Jewish
Sheet Music worldwide... But don't take my word for it! Just ask
any musician who has ever done a Jewish ( "Hasidic")
gig, or look for this logo on the sheet music near you...
Meanwhile, let's
say you were at a wedding, or a Bar/Bat Mitzvah, or both
on the same day ... The
event is finished, all, or most of the band had already
left. You see an item like this laying around - see
a sax stand in this picture below////
So even if you
feel only slightly ''mitzvahesque", please remember
this webpage, and this fact:
you'd be making
some sax player very happy, if you make sure that he, or
she, somehow gets that sax stand back!!! All it'll take
would be a few phone calls, and you'll be a hero for returning
that item to its owner! Hey, musicians need all the help
they can get! Just ask one!
If even one of
the musicians is still around, packing to leave, as him to
call that sax player that just played at this simcha...
That will give you an instant answer - Yes it's mine... No,
it's not mine...
Another option
would be to give give that item to the caterer...
Either way, you
might end up being a hero!!!
In my case, the hero was
Yosef Itzchak Ben Shimon, of http://benshimon.com/ --
thus a Public Thank You! is warranted!!! Hey, Good People, Good
Deeds should be NOTABLE...
at least sometimes, right?!
P.S. And speaking of Ideas,
this one could be pretty Notable!!!
If you don't like Avremi
G, or just want to mess him up, ask him to notate this
version of the legendary Tico
Tico! This is a must (click
to hear
it) , particularly if you are a musician. Be sure to hear all
of it! Performance by a pianist, Stefano
Bollani.
Offer Avremi, let's say,
a MILLION DOLLARS?!, to write it out note for note, like a Sonata,
let's by Chopin for
example, and give him a few days to do it!
Better yet, ask some band
to play it exactly like that, note for note, at your Simcha (wedding?),
and I don't mean plugging in a CD, or an iPod, or an iPhone! I
mean have them play it LIVE!, for real... Tell them that's only
way you'll hire them!!! And that it has to be played by nobody
other than the boss, as a the Bride and Groom's First Dance, that
they have been practicing for months!!!
And better still, ask
them to hire Avreim to have it notated and
bound, as gifts for all your guest! Such request in no big deal
for Avremi G and his A
Notable Idea!
The guests will have something
to practice when they get home, and everyone is happy:)! -- both
the Avremi and the band will be working..., and everyone will go
nuts:)!
Stay
tuned... Full Story coming?..., time permitting...?!
